The shadows she saw in the grass inspired her to work for months on an approach that does not, however, paint the chosen object on canvas. When objects live or perishable like humans and fruits, they become a painting of them. Alexa's painting style exhibits a hazy quality the only thing remaining of Alexa Meade's art is her photographs. Trompe l'oeil can be achieved through the combination of two methods of painting and photographing. The result is an unflattened and two-dimensional photograph. Occasionally, Meade integrates her painted models into the three-dimensional environment around them, which allows them to engage with their own self-created environment. The boundaries between performance, photography, and installation are thus dissolved.
